To: GPCA Press Secretary,

From: Ms. Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza-Curry Green Party United States Vice Presidential Candidate 2008
RE: Announcing on the first day of northern hemisphere (March 21, 2007), the first day of the first month and the first season which beginning the Iranian New Year, also in support of Human Rights Day: South Africa. The day also commemorates those Blacks who were killed at Sharpeville in 1960 and those who lost their lives in the struggle against apartheid, my bid for the Green Party United States Vice Presidential 2008 position was launch! How come I am running for our 2008 Green Party United States Vice Presidential position?
My objective in joining the Green Party was and is about building a permanent third political party here in the United States of America. For me, the way forward must be for our political party to emphasize direct action tactics and traditional electoral politics to women, people of color, independents and progressives in a clear and measurable manner; this given that the Democrats consistently take for granted all voters of color, women and it own progressive wing. Our 10 Key Values have been critical to us sustaining our vision. It is now time to enshrine a national Green vision supported by measurable laws, policies, agencies, programs and elected representatives.
After 6 years (2002-2008) of involvement in the Green Party United State (local, state, national, international) I say we must combine our energy on all levels to create winning strategies that synergistically promote a national Green vision supported by measurable policies, programs and laws appealing to the varied local, state and national interests of all Americans.
We Greens must make securing the 5% mark of the national voter base the goal over the next months. This “doable” goal will not only ensure we will be eligible for federal matching funds for our 2008 slate it will benefit local organizing, bringing in new recruits, a new vitality and energy to the party. Our campaign is focused on over the next 11 months on ensuring every registered green is an effective “ambassador of change” we seek in and for our nation.
We see each of us Greens as a key link in the “change network”. The “open” campaign I will lead for securing our 2008 GPUS Vice Presidential position is based on our 10 key values:
- As a female of African descent, 45 years old (DOB 01/01/1962) I am a direct product of a nation which came through the civil rights movement; the people who laid their bodies on the line in that movement are a significant part of my inspiration.
- As a historian, I have a “historical advantage” of looking at political and policies development over time. I’m fully aware that as a nation, “We are at an historic crossroads”. Our nation’s current political atmosphere and voter dissatisfaction has created a "climate of opportunity" for the Green Party on every level.
- As a effective organizer I will work to ensure strategic planning and training on the four key pillars as well as work to clear the four current blocks to “people of color” joining the our political party on a mass level on every level national, state and local level (White Privilege ,Voter Fraud, Dismantling all “ism” and enforcing the 1962 Voter Rights Act )
- To start a tradition of having GPUS Vice Presidential Candidates be democratically elected by our membership base and not selected by our Presidential candidate. The process I am starting is designed to build support for our party as well as allow our future Presidential aspirants to become “trained” for the Presidency years ahead before they run for office! In the past our Presidential candidates had far too much influence on rules and procedures. I will work to ensure discussions going on about who will write the rules and procedures for our 2008 convention. My campaign is a huge part to open up the process so it's not dominated by the Green "insiders" again; our membership base should be heard
- I believe “We the Greens” should all agree to work to institute three very American holiday into our nation’s consciousness i.e. “We the Greens” can “brand” the (a.) certification and ratification of the Amendment XIX (the Nineteenth Amendment) to the United States Constitution 2007 marks it’s 87th Anniversary (b.) 232st Anniversary of July 4, 1776 – July 4, 2008: Independence Day [July 4 every year] and (c.) 125th Anniversary of Labor Day 1882-2007 • September 3, 2007: Labor Day [1st Monday in Sept] Labor Day is a United States federal holiday .
